When families make a purposeful effort to live with a child’s moods and energy levels in a more holistic way and decide to combine emotional and physical health areas, magical things can happen!
At Feeding Futures we know that mental health treatment programs must have holistic approaches, but often families are missing important information about holistic health elements. Unfortunately, nutrition is almost always glazed over and not given the specific attention it deserves. After years of this work, we know that traditional doctors and therapists know very little about how food, sleep, physical activity, social connections, and positive family relationships can decrease anxiety.
That is why we have created this new full day Holistic Anxiety & Emotional Regulation Workshop! This workshop will set the foundation for long-term anxiety management.
At Feeding Futures we want families to feel EMPOWERED! We want you to be inspired to learn new skills, and take a leadership role in your child’s therapies. When parenting a child with mood challenges, Anxiety Autism, ADD, ADHD, and OCD, a new set of parenting skills are needed. In this community, knowledge is true power. We teach parents new and powerful parenting skills that are truly life-changing and can be PREVENTATIVE for many future menatl health problems.
Lisa and Laurie Pinhorn are the only two mental health professionals In Newfoundland & Labrador who are certified in Self-Reg™ through the Mehirt Center in Ontario.
One of the biggest missing pieces of family centred care is useful emotional regulation therapy. If your family is living with mood challenges, anxiety and OCD, we know that a particular type of counselling called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) really works! Actually, it has been proven to work! That is why all of our programs are Self-Reg™ & CBT-based.
Learning how the anxious brain works, and how to work with the anxious brain, is key learning for anyone living with mood challenges, anxiety and OCD – no matter what the age.
Then we add other holistic treatment elements . Why focus on nutrition, exercise, and mental health counselling at the same time? Because that is where the mood management magic happens!

Laurie holds a Science Degree in Psychology & Biology from Acadia University in NS, a Social Work Degree from Memorial University in NL, a Masters in Holisic Nutrition from the Edison Institute of Nutrition in ONT. She is one of only two Shanker Certified Self-Reg™practitioners in Newfoundland & Labrador.
She is a passionate speaker, educator and service provider on the subject of nutrition and its connection to mental and physical health.
She works with individuals, families, groups and corporations to design and deliver nutrition and wellness programs to optimize health and performance. With a diverse background in clinical social work, advanced holistic nutrition, Self-Reg™ and physical fitness; Laurie's hybrid of expertise is very unique. With a background that includes 20 years in social work and a Masters degree in Holistic Nutrition, she is well equipped to educate and shift perspectives.

Lisa has over 20 years of non-profit community work, public speaking, and is an advocate for children and their families. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Child Studies specializing in Developmental Disabilities from Mount Saint Vincent University, and a Masters of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, specializing in Adult Education. She is also a member of The Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists (ANN). She is one of only two Shanker Self-Reg™practitioners in Newfoundland & Labrador
Lisa is a play focused, Pivotal Response Therapist (PRT) who knows firsthand the challenges of parenting a child on the autism spectrum. She is the creator of Supportive Transitions, a service offered to families and professionals who are working to improve the day-to-day lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This service provides practical, evidence-based strategies to unravel the challenges brought to families and individuals with Autism, Anxiety, ADHD, and OCD. She is the Co-Founder of Feeding Futures, a holistic health service offering nutrition and food therapies to families living with ASD, ADHD, OCD and Anxiety.
Lisa is a firm believer that empowered parents, holistic care, and empathic relationships are powerful, and often missing pieces of pediatric mental health interventions and care. In her private practice she has seen families make powerful changes for their children.
