 About Joann & Laurie  

Joann & Laurie have known each other since they were children, where they met as competitive gymnasts.  Later in life, they were reconnected through their love of yoga. They both believe in the power of yoga and the healing it will bring to your life. Yoga has changed  their lives and now they want you to have the same amazing experience! 

 Joann Greeley

 Yoga Teacher YTT 200hr

Joann has completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training under 
the guidance of Meaghan Burridge and Bobby Bessey. Their 
teachings sparked a fire in her.  She is currently enrolled in 300 hour teacher training under the guidance of Christina Sell and Giaconda Parker.

Joann teaches alignment in her classes so that her students can 
build a strong foundation and move their own practice to the level
they desire. Joann’s knowledge of breathing techniques and 
alignment cues, will guide you through new movements with ease.Joann is passionate about community. She believes we all need 
strong community in order to feel accepted. She enjoys being 
active – hiking, kayaking, exploring, being in nature, and being 
able to control the mind; great gifts. 
Joann was born a seeker and has always wanted to see what was
around the next corner. Her welcoming heart makes everyone 
feel comfortable.

Laurie Pinhorn

 Registered Social Worker & Holistic Naturopathic Therapist

Laurie holds a Science Degree in Psychology & Biology from Acadia University in NS, a Social Work Degree from Memorial University in NL, a Masters in Holisic Nutrition from the Edison Institute of Nutrition in ONT. She is one of only two Shanker Certified Self-Reg™practitioners in Newfoundland & Labrador.
She is a passionate speaker, educator and service provider on the subject of nutrition and its connection to mental and physical health.

She works with individuals, families, groups and corporations to design and deliver nutrition and wellness programs to optimize health and performance. With a diverse background in clinical social work, advanced holistic nutrition, Self-Reg™ and physical fitness; Laurie's hybrid of expertise is very unique. With a background that includes 20 years in social work and a Masters degree in Holistic Nutrition, she is well equipped to educate and shift perspectives.

Questions always come up about events like this, and we want to save you some time by providing you with answers to some of the questions that we see a lot. Don’t hestitate to reach out with further questions.

  • Do I need to know how to do Yoga?
    Absolutely not! All levels of yoga practice are welcome! Both beginners and more advanced students will have a great day. Just come with an open mind and the intention to take away health and wellness messages that will improve your life. Joann is practiced at modifying her yoga classes for a personlized yoga experience.  
  • Is this an all female event?  No, not at all.  This is an inclusive event, come one come all.  You might also be wondering about age limits. This is an adult event and unfortunately we don't have child care on site. Stay tuned for our youth focused retreats coming your way soon. 
  • What should I bring?
    Definitely bring any equipment or props you would normally use in your yoga practice. We are asking people to bring: a yoga mat, a blanket, cushion to sit on, a yoga block(s), your water bottle, and a note book and pen. We are also asking people to bring a small item that holds some spiritual significance to you. The details of what we will be using this  for will come in your welcome email. 
  • How do I sign up for this event?
    Just simply click one of the Register buttons above or click here. You’ll be prompted to enter in all of your necessary details. Your seat at the retreat will be 100% secure once you send your registration payment.  Once you are totally registered, you will receive a welcome email with all of the finer deatails of the day and your receipt. 
  • What is included in the $160.00 + HST fee? Your nutritious breakfast, 2 snacks & lunch. Recipes, take away nutrition information, access to the nutrition PowerPoint presentations, 3 hours of nutrition instruction, 3.5 hours of yoga teaching and instruction, simple meditation instructions that you can start using right away, new stress management and breathing strategies. 
  • Are meals and snacks included in the registration cost? 
    Yes! We have awesome meals and snacks planned for the day. We will be taking into account people's allergies, food sensitivities and special requests for vegetarian or vegan options. Don't forget to make your requests in the registration form.
